City to Open New Routes of Double-Decker Tour Bus

Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department plans to add new routes of double-decker bus. The prepared routes are from Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout towards Semanggi Plaza – Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) – TVRI – Senayan – Plaza Senayan – Senayan City and then return HI Roundabout. However, these additional routes will be applied after the amount of the double-decker bus added.

Hopefully there would be more bus fleets next year. Thus, the additional routes can be operated to accommodate Jakartans who want to enjoy the double-decker tour bus

“The current amount of double-decker tour bus is still limited. Ideally, each route has 10 to 15 units. But at this time, there are only five units. Later, in line with the bus procurement, we’ll try to access the existing destinations,” stated Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Arie Budhiman, Thursday (5/22).

Double-Decker Bus Packed with 150 People

Money as much as Rp 25 million has been budgeted to buy the double-decker tour buses. However, the purchase is still waiting for the Government’s Goods and Services Procurement Regulatory Agency (LKPP), because according to the policy, bus purchase in Jakarta Provincial Government must go through e-catalog system.

“ Hopefully there would be more bus fleets next year. Thus, the additional routes can be operated to accommodate Jakartans who want to enjoy the double-decker tour bus ,” said Budhiman.

As known, since last February Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department has officially launched five double-decker tour buses that are free of charge. Those buses serve about 3,000 passengers every day on work days and doubled on weekends. Due to limited amount of fleets, the double-decker tour buses can only serve one route for now, which is HI Roundabout – Medan Medeka Barat – Harmoni – Juanda – Jakarta Art Building – Cathedral – Istiqlal Mosque – Juanda – Medan Merdeka Utara – State Palace – City Hall – MH Thamrin – HI Roundabout.
